Kelly Vierck, 19, of Juneau started her sheep showing career in sixth grade while she was in 4-H and FFA. Introduced to the industry by her meats judging coach, Becky Doman, Vierck’s interest in showing blossomed from showing market lambs to the establishment of Rose Hill Southdowns.

As much as I liked the idea, finding a place that has goat on the menu is more of a challenge than I had expected. That was kind of a surprise: goat has been used for meat for thousands of years and is one of the most widely consumed meats in the world.
