Grazing Corn Stalks With The Ewe Flock

By Dan Morrical and Joseph Rook

Corn stalk grazing will be earlier than normal this fall for many areas of the state because of the rapidly advancing corn crop. Ewes can utilize corn stalks for most, if not all of their daily nutrients: 1) if quantities of stalks are adequate, 2) if weather conditions allow grazing, 3) if fencing is available 4) if weathering causes minimal deterioration of quality and 5) if you have enough sheep to fully utilize crop residue.
