Proper Culling Improves Productivity

Culling is one of a sheep and goat farmer’s most powerful tools. Culling is when an animal is removed from the breeding herd. It is customary to replace 15 to 20 percent of the herd each year. Culling rates tend to be highest in high-producing and purebred herds.
